Nereids, Poseidon, and Amphitrite


NEREIDS are the fifty daughters of Nereus. They are the DAUGHTERS OF NOAH
	POSEIDON with his trident. This "brother" of Zeus takes the place of Nereus by marrying his daughter, the Nereid Amphitrite. Nereus, the Greek Noah, of the line of Seth, can have no power in the Greek system, and so Poseidon becomes GOD OF THE SEA'S POWER
	AMPHITRITE A daughter of Nereus, or Noah, taken to wife by Poseidon. Thus the family of Nereus becomes his. Identified with dolphins, she is a simple personification of the sea, and GODDESS OF THE CALM SEA
